The Top Ten [TechKnowledgey Ep.2 S.2]

// July 19th, 2010 // No Comments » // Apple, Electronics, Entertainment, Fun, Gadgets, Tech, TechKnowledgey

Join Devir and Avi as they review the top ten apps in the Apple App Store in just this ONE EPISODE!

“Naturally, one of the first places people look for ideas on purchases is the top 10 list. But the way apple has the top 10 work is by the most purchased, not actually the best. And so one day I had the idea to download all of them, so I could, review them all, and maybe even rearrange them for you into the correct actual order of not most purchased, but which are actually the best – and so, with the help of my buddy Avi, that is just what I did.”

The Official TDKN Wallpapers Are Here!

// July 13th, 2010 // No Comments » // Entertainment, Fun, Life, Photos, Tech, TechKnowledgey

Yep! It’s true! TDKN stands for The Devir Kahan Network.

Oh, that’s not what this post is about.

Either way, yes, after the valiant and kind effort of LetsTalkPC on YouTube*, TDKN now has 4 wallpapers at the time of this post. I say at the time of this post, because I welcome anyone to make some more (in as high a resolution as possible)! I’ll add them to the Flickr album and give ‘em a quick plug on Twitter.

All that jazz aside though, here is the Flickr album of all the wallpapers.

Some of them are really quite cool, so go ahead and set them as your wallpaper if you would like! I’m not going to force you or anything (I’m not sure how legal that would be), but I have already gotten a few emails from people saying they are using it on their desktop.

*To be honest, the 4th wallpaper was actually made by someone else, who’s name escapes me (or rather, my inbox search).

Organization Nation [TechKnowledgey Ep.1 S.2]

Welcome to an all new Season 2 of TechKnowledgey that is going to be even better than the first!

“…being organized, especially when it comes to technology, is just incredibly important for so many reasons. And I believe that anyone has the ability to be organized. They just need the right utensils and tools, which is exactly what this episode of TechKnowledgey is all about. So sit back, relax, and join the organization nation…”

Hey. Firstly, you don’t have to answer this question if you don’t want to. How do your peers at school etc. react when they see your YouTube channel and site etc? [As asked on FormSpring]

// July 7th, 2010 // No Comments » // Blog, Education, General, Internet, Life, Media, School, Tech

Good question!

At first people thought it was kind of “out there”, but I think as time went on, people thought it was just a “thing”. Just like anyone else plays basketball, or is a “bookworm”, so I had a website and have a bunch of viewers.

I was nervous at first too, and I always have trouble with the line “don’t worry what others think”, but I just did it. It’s become more of a topic of conversation now with me. Maybe always in a joking way, but never anything truly bad.

Have I gotten the occasional strange, or awkward comment? Sure, but it bounces off.

Maybe I’m just lucky. But I’m not the ONLY one, you know :)

3 Questions About The Switch To Mac

// July 6th, 2010 // No Comments » // Apple, Blog, Computer, Tech, TechKnowledgey

After I got the following email today about switching to a Mac, I decided to share my answer with all of you. Seeing as to the fact that so many people want some more info on switching to a Mac, and an episode of TechKnowledgey all about it is still hard in the works (but is not going to be done for a while), I thought the least I could do was share this. So here we go.

The email first:

Hi Devir,

I am writing to you to ask you about moving from vista to leopard. In September, I will be purchasing an iMac. I wanted to get around the mac os, so I have a few questions to ask you.

Question 1

How do you delete programs on mac. Like in windows it is start>control panel > programs then uninstall program.

Question 2

How does time machine work, what hard-drive would you recommend.

Question 3

Finally!

How do you add email addresses to the application mail. I am using Yahoo Mail, people say you need to pay for the pops but do you.

Many Thanks!

And my reply with the answers:

1. Deletion is fairly simple. Usually just a drag and drop to the trash. If not there is sometimes an uninstall that comes with the program. Otherwise, there are all sorts of 3rd party apps that make sure to get rid of every little scrap left of an app you want deleted.

2. Time Machine is literally just a switch. Flip it on from the System Preferences, and let it back up your ENTIRE Mac!

3. Adding email addresses is just like Outlook, unless it’s a Gmail account or another popular one, in which case it’s automatic! You just need your password and email address and Mail does the rest. Yahoo, though, does indeed charge money to do that. Switch to Gmail though! WORLDS better!

Hope that helped!

So there you go! And yeah, I do hope that helped!

The New Logo

A new logo was created for The Devir Kahan Network and cool round stickers of it were ordered to be affixed to my laptop. In this episode of Byte Sized the new logo is officially shown, and the new sticker finds its place on my MacBook.

Why don’t you have a gaming console? [As asked on FormSpring]

// June 21st, 2010 // 1 Comment » // Community, Entertainment, Games, Hardware, Life, Media, Tech

I’m just not a big gamer like that. Yet, at least. I like the occasional computer game, and such, but my family has just never gotten a console.

Would I want one? Sure. Do I have one? No.

For now…
