Interrupting Football

I was watching TV last night, as most all of America was, and there was this annoying thing that kept on happening to me. As we all know, last night was the night that everyone watches the greatest ads of the year in an ongoing marathon called the Super Bowl. Unfortunately, some big men playing some stupid game with a round brown ball kept on interrupting the great ads! It was rather annoying I tell you! I’m only kidding – it didn’t only happen to me. Actually everyone that was watching saw this game we call football in between the ads, just like it’s always been…

But in all seriousness now, I have never been a big sports person. I like playing baseball from time to time (and am actually pretty good if I do say so myself), but football for sure is not my thing. Unlike most people I couldn’t care less who won the Super Bowl. I run to go do things during the game so that I don’t miss any of the commercials. Heck, I didn’t even know who was in the Super Bowl until just a few days ago. But boy, do I like the commercials…

In fact many people do. It’s become somewhat of a phenomenon that millions of people watch. The greatest ads are often found during the Super Bowl and boy do companies pay a hand and a leg for it! 30 second spots costs millions of dollars! This year was no different and we saw many ads from many companies. I thought there were quite a few good ones, and many that were not. The fact that Google had an ad is actually understandable to me at least, just due to the fact that Bing has been running vigorous campaigns against Google. I wish E-Trade would come up with a new idea for ads though, the babies talking all the time is getting old. Then of course you have the GoDaddy commercials, which I never really liked to tell you the truth – especially because we all know that they are not exactly the best host in the world. What I thought was really cool though is the Dorritos ad that I saw online before it aired. RhettandLink on YouTube asked everyone to vote for their favorite to help a friend of theirs’ ad get chosen, and it did! It aired at the Super Bowl! Pretty cool, no?

Unfortunately though, I was feeling sick and I went to bed before I saw a lot of the latter commercials (and the second half of the game, but who cares about that?). So I have to ask, what did you think about the ads this year?
