Is The TSA Run By Morons?

// December 31st, 2009 // Political, Security, Vacation

Some terrorist the other day tried to blow up a plane with the plan of killing everyone on board. His father actually tipped of the government that his son was involved with a terrorist group and he would probably attempt a suicide bombing. Apparently, when he went to set them off in the last hour of the flight, he realized that the trigger for the explosives had melted and he was never actually able to set them off. (Where he was hiding the explosives though, is unimportant – okay fine, they were in his crotch.)

Since this occurred, the TSA has instituted a new law prohibiting anyone using, or even having anything out for the last hour of a flight. You may as well, in the words of Leo Laporte, sit there with your hands up for the last hour of any flight. Hey! Nice job, TSA! Of course, like David Pogue pointed out, no terrorist would ever think to blow up a plane before the last hour of a flight! I’m so glad the TSA knows how to keep us safe!

Seriously? What a stupid law. It makes absolutely no sense what so ever! Are there a bunch of brainless morons running the TSA? Who would ever come up with such a law and honestly think that it will help anything?! There also happens to be a law that you cannot bring explosives on planes, and terrorists break that! This law, even if it were for the entire flight would not stop them. It takes a matter of seconds to set off explosives, so these terrorists will have no trouble breaking this law and blowing up the plane even in the last hour of the flight (you know, because they wouldn’t think to do anything before then, anyway). My point is, that yes, this law is just plain stupid (pun intended?) but, it does nothing except for inconvenience everyone else. It won’t stop the terrorists, because not only could they set things off before the last hour, but they could even do it within that last hour! I’m sure the flight attendants will be pacing the aisles making sure someone isn’t, you know, breaking the law and reading a book or something, but that isn’t stopping the terrorists. They’ll set it off before the last hour, or they could even set it off within that last hour.

Leo Laporte made a great point on TWiT, saying that the TSA is not actually protecting anyone. It is a theatre. They make us feel protected. As a spokesman said, they can’t really stop these terrible people from blowing up planes. They can’t catch everyone. But you know? With laws like this it makes you wonder if they’re really at least doing their best. These people should be stopped before they even get to the airport. Someone who’s father tipped of the government that he was a terrorist should have their passport revoked. They should not be able to fly at all.

Whatever the case though, this retarded law preventing people from reading, children from going to the bathroom, business men from working, the innocent from just doing anything, and truthfully doing nothing to prevent bombings, is just unacceptable. I’m heading down to Florida for vacation in a few weeks and I had better be able to use my laptop during the last hour. They’d better pull back this ‘law’ – if you even want to call it that. It’s just a nuisance, really.

I don’t know what the deal is with the TSA, but they’d better get their act together. Who gave these people the right to pass laws like this? It’s just ludicrous!

Unless of course, they are indeed all morons, in which case I guess it’s excusable.
