Pocket This Camera

// May 24th, 2010 // No Comments » // Gadgets, Hardware, How To, Media, Reviews, Software, Tech, TechKnowledgey, Video

Nowadays, everyone wants a simple, easy to use, pocket sized, and yet superior HD video camera. Unfortunately, because of that, many companies have created quite an array of pocket camcorders to choose from. Thankfully, Devir was able to narrow it down to just the four best (all of which are great choices), and then seems to have a way with them to get them to talk, and explain themselves as to which one, specifically, is right for you.

ThinkGeek Week: Lighter, Camera, Action!

// February 26th, 2010 // No Comments » // Electronics, Gadgets, Hardware, Reviews, Tech, TechKnowledgey, Video

For the fourth and final product of ThinkGeek Week, I give you the SpyCam Lighter. It’s an actual camera hidden inside a lighter! How amazing is that? This is the true future of video. It’s going to get smaller and better. Your looking at the future, now!

To be honest, the video isn’t too bad, although the frame rates aren’t that great. The audio is on the lower quality side, as well. But you need to remember, we’re not talking about a couple hundred dollar professional camera. Or even just one of those cheap pocket cameras, like the Flip, or the Kodak Zi8. This is a lighter!

So, on this episode of TechKnowledgey I, along with Hard Drive Hunter Harry, walk you through this camera/lighter, and talk about the amazing technology that made it possible.

So stay tuned for the rest of ThinkGeek Week! The fun has only just begun…

Inside the 4 pound box was A ThinkGeek Epoch Clock, a USB Plasma Ball, a SpyCam Lighter and Bucky Balls.

My Inbox: This Time Filled With Cameras, Tweets, and Intros

// February 16th, 2010 // No Comments » // Blog, Business, Community, Computer, Education, Electronics, Emails, General, Hardware, How To, Information, Internet, Software, Tech, TechKnowledgey

Who liked my impression of “The Count” from Sesame Street? Either way, it is time once more to take a look into My Inbox! This is the segment here on TechKnowledgey where I answer some user submitted questions publicly for the benefit of all you TechKnowledgists. If you have any questions email them to me at mail@devirkahan.com – I respond to every email, but if you’re lucky, you may also see it on the next ‘My Inbox’ segment too! I try to answer questions I get frequently, or ones that I think all you TechKnowledgists will benefit from or enjoy, for everyone to see.

I would also like to formerly introduce my good friend Avi who has been helping me with TechKnowledgey since day one. So, welcome Avi, and thank you for reading the questions! This time they range from cameras, all the way to twitter!

Questions answered in this episode:

  1. What camera do I use to record my YouTube videos?
  2. How to set up a WordPress blog without a domain.
  3. How to make weekly Twitter posts.
  4. How I made my TechKnowledgey intro.
  5. What web-host do I use?

Photo Studio In A Box – Unboxing

// February 11th, 2010 // No Comments » // Gadgets, How To, Media, Photos, Tech, TechKnowledgey

On this episode of TechKnowledgey I unbox a portable photo studio from ThinkGeek.com. It is actually very cool and has been working great since I have started using it! I often will take pictures for my mother, and this makes editing them MUCH easier.

It comes with a cool little unfolding white screen box to use as the background, two florescent collapsable lights that actually help with some great lighting, and a little mini tripod as well! You set it all up, and you have yourself a pretty awesome photo shoot!

I Highly recommend this for anyone who wants to take professional looking photos for a great price! Buy it now for about 50 bucks, if you would like, at http://www.thinkgeek.com/a205/(NOTE: I bought this – well technically my mother did – but the products that ThinkGeek did send me to review should be here in a few days. Stay tuned for a ThinkGeek week!)

    TechKnowledgey: Read Those SD Cards!

// January 19th, 2010 // No Comments » // Computer, Electronics, Gadgets, Hardware, Media, Photos, Tech, TechKnowledgey

SD readers are something everyone should have. In this video I go through a few ways to make sure you can get your media off of any kind of card you may have. By just spending a few dollars you can make accessing your media so much easier.

Here is a link to an entire kit from Kensington with everything you need! http://www.amazon.com/Kingston-Mobility-Kit-microSDHC-Adapters/dp/B00180QHCG/ref=sr_1_20?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1263936449&sr=8-20/. Best of all, it’s not even $20 for all of that tech! Sure, you can get cheaper ones, but those don’t come with all of the other adapters…

If you take any pictures or movies on a device that uses an SD card a reader is a great thing to add to your gadget collection!

I plan on making more videos like this and making it a larger focus of mine.
