Almost everyone I know has heard of Twitter to some extent, but the problem is that all too many of them don’t know what it is exactly or what it does. They seem to think it is for stalkers and always ask why they would care what someone had for lunch. These people just don’t truly understand the true potential of Twitter. Am I the only one who has people constantly asking me about what the point of Twitter is? I guess I am the ‘tech geek’ in the family (and friends for that matter), but I’m sure some of you are too. Does anyone else feel bothered when people don’t understand Twitter?
Twitter really has so much potential and is absolutely not for ‘stalking’ people, or even for sharing what you had for breakfast. The world of Twitter is truly incredible. People share links and important information on things they have encountered. IT is a place for people to help each other – social networking at it’s best. Plus, often times news first breaks out on Twitter, even before it gets on the major news networks.
In this episode of TechKnowledgey I talk more about the ‘point’ of Twitter and the true potential that it has. An excellent example of the real-time power of Twitter is a book by David Pogue called “The World According To Twitter”, an awesome book for people that use Titter already, or those of you that don’t and want to know more about the whole ‘deal with Twitter’. It’s not a book out Twitter, it’s a book written WITH Twitter. It really shows the true potential of what Twitter can do. It is a book filed with questions he posed, and ingenious, witty, and clever, answers from his 500,000 followers. Many times they were funny, other times they were deeply moving. Many others were just immensely useful information for everyday life. That is what Twitter is all about people! It’s for helping, and sharing. For collaborating and a lot more. It’s for anything and everything – EXCEPT for things like sharing your meals and stalking people.
What’s the point of Twitter you still ask? If you really want to know I think this book is a great answer. If you are still skeptic, well so was David Pogue! He wrote an entire article about how stupid he thought it was. Then he used it for a week and took everything back and went on to explaining everything in his book. Now he has over 1.5 million followers. I think the best way to truly appreciate Twitter is for you to just use it for a week or so.
But, whether you yourself are curious about what Twitter is, or if you already use Twitter and are what we call a ‘Twitterholic’, this book is a great resource of TechKnowledge – and some great laughs and useful info – for you!

I have been on the internet for years, but this past birthday of mine, September 23, 2009 I started my website. I started making YouTube videos, and producing content for the online world. I’ve come a long way in just a few months and plan on continuing to grow! These past few months of producing content have been fantastic and I look forward to another year, and another decade, just a great as this past one! I’ve got some great things and announcements coming, and 2010 is going to be great!
