Hey. Firstly, you don’t have to answer this question if you don’t want to. How do your peers at school etc. react when they see your YouTube channel and site etc? [As asked on FormSpring]

Good question!

At first people thought it was kind of “out there”, but I think as time went on, people thought it was just a “thing”. Just like anyone else plays basketball, or is a “bookworm”, so I had a website and have a bunch of viewers.

I was nervous at first too, and I always have trouble with the line “don’t worry what others think”, but I just did it. It’s become more of a topic of conversation now with me. Maybe always in a joking way, but never anything truly bad.

Have I gotten the occasional strange, or awkward comment? Sure, but it bounces off.

Maybe I’m just lucky. But I’m not the ONLY one, you know :)

One Thousand And Beyond!

// April 18th, 2010 // 2 Comments » // Blog, Business, Community, General, Life, TechKnowledgey

Thank you to all of my subscribers and viewers of the show. None of this would be possible, or worth all the work, without you. It’s been truly unbelievable how it took only a few months to arrive at a day I thought may never come. And now that it’s here, let’s keep it going! It’s all been incredibly exciting, we have some new shows coming, and I think we’re going somewhere great. I’m so glad to be doing this all, and the audience that I have amassed is just outstanding.

So thank you, everyone. Pulling of the show on top of school, and everyday life is a little difficult at times, but with my amazing friend and assistant Avi, and his commitment, we somehow are able to do it. TechKnowledgey couldn’t be the show that it is without you – and I think we can all agree, this whole thing is pretty awesome!

And yes, the next show is indeed airing tomorrow :)

I’m In The NYTimes!

// March 26th, 2010 // No Comments » // Apple, Blog, Community, General, Internet, Life, Vlogs

Just yesterday I was quoted in the New York Times after being contacted by Brad Stone, a tech columnist. The article was all about Steve Jobs and his replies via email to questions people ask him. The coolest thing though, is that not only was my picture in the article, but my quote after receiving the email from Jobs, “Oh my god, I am never cleaning my inbox again” was actually the quote of the day! You can read the full article, here: http://nyti.ms/a6gWkl

Also, as you may have noticed, my site has indeed been redesigned. I like it much better now, and it really looks a lot cleaner, and is much more content centered. The response so far has been really great, and I hope you like it as much as I do!

I am going to be away on vacation for about a week and a half now. If you would like to see content from me, check back on my blog, my vlog channel, or my twitter page. When I return, things will go back to normal, and I will be getting an iPad and will be covering it on my main channel.

The DeVlog Channel

// March 18th, 2010 // No Comments » // Blog, Community, Entertainment, Fun, General, Information, Internet, Life, Video, Vlogs

My official announcement of my second YouTube channel, The DeVlogs, is here. I just wanted a place for all other videos that I want to upload, but that wouldn’t fit here on this channel. I think you’ll like the content on the other channel though too, so check it out and subscribe!

This is the official second channel of ‘thedevirkahan’ (although it’s really not too official). This is the channel to which I will upload all the videos that I think the world should see, but that wouldn’t exactly fit on my main channel where all the tech related content goes.

So what can you expect from this channel? Vlogs, of course. But it’s more than that too. It’s any video that I want to upload to YouTube but that just wouldn’t feel comfortable (yes, videos have feelings too) on my main YouTube page. Anything cool, or funny. Something I just want you all to see. And of course, the typical, everyday, other than tech, unscripted, me – Devir Kahan. The vlogs of Devir Kahan, or as I like to call them, The DeVlogs.

So, if you are here and are already subscribed to my main channel – subscribe to this one too! There is certain to be something for anyone to enjoy.

There’s No Hate

// March 8th, 2010 // No Comments » // Blog, Community, Education, Electronics, General, Information, Internet, Life, Media, TechKnowledgey

Truth be told, more often than not, what people consider to be ‘hate’ on places like YouTube and so on, are really just idiots who have nothing better to do with their time then try to upset someone else. Such idiots on the internet, are called trolls.

And so, on this episode of TechKnowledgey, Devir, along with the ‘Hate Police’ talk about various ways that hate appears in New Media, and various ways to deal with said hate.

500 Subscriber Giveaway Winner and Thank You

// January 31st, 2010 // No Comments » // Blog, Community, Giveaway, Software, Tech, TechKnowledgey

After hitting 500 subscribers on YouTube, like promised I have selected a winner for Photoshop CS3. The winner is ‘humble336′ on YouTube, so congratulations! While only one person could win the software, I want to thank each and everyone of you for subscribing and being a part of my growing community.

After all, this would not at all be possible without you. If you all hadn’t clicked that subscribe button I would still have a big fat zero subscribers. I have come a long way in these past few months and I am looking forward to where, with all your help, I will be going.

My YouTube channel is not about giveaways or free products, though, and I don’t want people to subscribe for that. It’s about helping people, technology, of course TechKnowledgey, and community and networking. I love doing this, and you all make it possible. Thank you.

There are 277 Of You Now – Let’s Make That 1,000

// January 10th, 2010 // No Comments » // Community, Giveaway, Video

I currently have 277 subscribers on YouTube, and I just wanted to take the time to say thank you to all of you. I also have devised a scheme to get me to becoming a YouTube partner. You can do it by just getting at least ONE other person to subscribe, and tell them to do the same.

Think about it – I could upload videos longer than 10 minutes. There would be much bigger giveaways (I’m talking iPod Nano, Flip Video). How awesome would it be if I were a YouTube partner?

It’s in your hands now, so get going! Fly my subscribers! Fly! (Yes, that is a figure of speech. Please do not take literally ;).)

My Inbox! This Time Filled With: My Hair, Dual Monitors, and WicketPixie

// January 4th, 2010 // No Comments » // Blog, Community, Electronics, Emails, Hardware, How To, Information, Internet, Tech

As you all should know by now, I love answering your questions. I remember when I had all the questions and how much I just wanted easy answers. Well, this is not to say that I no longer have any questions, but this is to say that I started an ongoing video series called “My Inbox”!

I get many questions through email (or other places that end up in my inbox like YouTube and so on), and the answers to many of them can really benefit the community. That’s why I will be answering a selection of the questions I receive on YouTube for everyone!

Sometimes I will just reply with the answer because I don’t think it needs to be in an episode. Other times I will reply with an answer and say that I will talk more about it in the next episode of “My Inbox”. Other times still, it just may be too much information for an email and I will only be able to talk about it in a video. Whatever the case though, the questions will always be answered!

Questions answered in this episode:

  1. How do I get my hair to look the way it does?
  2. How did I make my old blue logo?
  3. Is it possible to get WicketPixie on Blogger?
  4. How can you customize the WicketPixie theme like I did?
  5. How can you set up dual monitors (with only one VGA port)?
  6. Will I ever talk, and give my opinions about, the news and so on?

I look forward to getting and answering many more questions in the future. The only way I can do that is if you send them, so keep them coming! My email address is mail@devirkahan.com, and My Inbox is always open.
