Thoughts On The iPad

I share my thoughts on the Apple iPad. Do I think it lived up to all the hype? Absolutely not. Do I think it’s a failure? Absolutely not as well. In fact, I think it’s quite a good product despite not living up to the hype. And that is just my point here – I think people need to get over the fact that it’s not what we expected, or truly wanted, and look at the product the way it is now.
No, Apple in my opinion for the first time did not at all live up to expectations, but how could they? These rumors have been going on now for 15 years! No company could ever live up to hype like that, and Apple is no exception. That being said though, I will admit to being a bit disappointed with this new iPad. It seems to me like just a big iPod Touch. I wanted something more, something revolutionary, and the iPad just was not it.
At that same time however, it still is going to be an amazing product. The immersive user interface and the experience that people will have using it is like no other. The iPad is the first tablet that was built from the ground up to be just that. It’s intuitive, user friendly, and elegant. You can’t say that about any other tablet device. Apple had a great mobile operating system that we all know from the iPhone, and they didn’t feel the need to change that. It was the first true touch enabled, mobile user interface ever, and they didn’t need to make a new one for the iPad. Anyone that knows how to use an iPhone or iPod Touch, which is pretty much everyone, will know how to use this.
Of course, they could have maybe polished the iPhone OS for the iPad a little more, and I hope they do, but for now it’s okay. Plus, imagine the possibilities of this! In just a few months the apps and things the iPad will be able to do will be absolutely breathtaking. Apple created something here like nothing else. The iPad, despite not being what exactly we were hoping for, is going to be the future of media.
I know I am a little late to the iPad thing, but I have been away on vacation until just yesterday. I had a great time, and now that I am back I wanted to record this video.
I would also like to apologize for having to split this into two parts. It’s only a minute or two over the maximum, but until I’m a YouTube partner, that’s the way it has to be. And to all of my viewers who don’t like the longer videos as much, I am sorry, but I really wanted to share all my thoughts and get everything in. This video had to be this long to do what I wanted it to do.

BTW I suggest you read this article about Apple developers, it’s the real truth about what Apple is today :) Please tell me what you think about it. I am an IT engineer and share the view of a developer more than that of a consumer, maybe that’s why I’m no Apple fanboy hehe.
